Notes for your 2016 calendars





FLINT TWP. — Looking ahead to 2016, the township board has approved its calendar for township business including meeting schedules and days when offices will be closed.

The calendar sets township board meetings for 7 p.m. on the first and third Monday of each month, with exceptions. At the beginning of the year, the board will holds its second monthly meeting on Tuesday, January 19 and Tuesday, February 16 because the preceding Monday is a national holiday.

The township board will only meet once in March, August and November. The March 7, August 1 and November 7 meetings will be cancelled due to presidential primary and general election duties.

In October, the first monthly board meeting is moved to Tuesday, October 4 because Monday is Rosh Hashanah, The Jewish New Year.

Holiday closings for the township administrative offices are:

• Monday, January 18 for Martin Luther King Day

• Monday, February 15 for President’s Day

• Monday, May 30 for Memorial Day Observance

• Monday, July 4 for Fourth of July

• Monday, September 5 for Labor Day

• Monday, October 10 for Columbus Day

• Thursday, November 24 for Thanksgiving Day.

Regular township office hours are 8 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Monday-Thursday. The office is closed on Friday and weekends.

Calendar dates also are set for other township bodies. The Board of Appeals will meet on the first Wednesday of each month at 5 p.m; the Planning Commission meets on the second Thursday of each month at 6:30 p.m.; the Road Advisory Committee meets monthly at 3:30 P.M. on the second Monday except in October when it will meet on October 11; the Parks and Recreation Committee meets monthly at noon on the fourth Thursday with the exception of Thanksgiving Day when it will instead meet one week earlier on November 17. All meeting are held at the township hall, 1490 S. Dye Road.

Crime Watch meetings will be held at 6 p.m. on the fourth Tuesday of each month in the Police Station Community Room at 5200 Norko Drive.
