ON THE BEAM

ON THE BEAM — As a good luck gesture, well-wishers at a traditional construction ceremony last week signed their names on a steel support beam for the McLaren Hospitality House being built on Beecher Road. Students from St. Paul Lutheran School also were invited to attend the signing ceremony. When completed, the 32,000-square-foot Hospitality House will have 30 guest rooms to house cancer patients for several weeks while they are being treated next door at McLaren’s new state-of-the-art Proton Therapy Center. Set to open by spring 2013, the house will offer amenities including a library, patio and exercise room to provide a home-away-from-home environment for patients and their families. Donations still are being sought to help pay for the $8 million facility. For more information, contact the McLaren Foundation at 810-342-4087
