One killed, two injured during home invasion, attack

BURTON — Burton Police responded to the report of a stabbing Feb. 14, at a residence on Carman Street where they found one victim dead and two wounded.

But upon further investigation the deceased and three other individuals allegedly broke into the house of his ex-girlfriend and attacked those inside.

Police found Johnathon Skaggs, 25, dead at the scene and two individuals who were wounded. The Burton Police were able to identify, locate, and arrest the other three suspects. They are all lodged at the Genesee County Jail.

Officers were called to the home in the 1400 block of Carman Street in reference to a stabbing at approximately 12:49 a.m. When officers arrived on scene, they found three individuals with stab wounds.

Two victims were treated at Hurley Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries. One suspect, Skaggs, was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Police said the group allegedly broke into the house and attacked those inside. The suspects attempted to flee the scene.

Skaggs collapsed while fleeing and passed away. The others were able to get back into their vehicle and leave.
