FLINT TWP. — Ann Saunders is running unopposed for a four-year term on the Carman-Ainsworth School Board.
Her three children graduated from Carman-Ainsworth in 1998, 2002 and 2010. She also has 2 grandchildren, the oldest will start kindergarten this fall at Woodland Elementary.
Saunders was elected in May 2009 to complete the term of her husband, Barry Saunders, after his death in 2008. Barry Saunders had been a Board member since 1999.
“Education is and always has been a huge priority in our family,’’ Saunders said, adding that she and her husband specifically chose to buy a home in the Carman-Ainsworth school district. “We have been involved in all aspects of our children’s education. I was hoping to continue some of the work and involvement that Barry had started.”
She said is seeking re-election to maintain consistency on the Board of Education plus utilize knowledge and experience gained from serving two years in the position.
“In spite of the fact that this is going to be a very difficult time (financially) in education, I truly believe in Carman Ainsworth,” she said. “The students and their education will be our number one priority.” — Rhonda Sanders
