Some students at Hahn Intermediate School spent the afternoon on Nov. 18 creating a picture frame made with stones they collected themselves. The Hahn Fishing and Outdoor Club does monthly activities and this month the group of students got together to create picture frames made from stones collected on a recent nature hike. Shelly Hayden, a Hahn teacher and adviser for the club, said the kids were taking the stones and cementing them to a picture frame, giving the frame sort of a rustic look.
The Davion Downtown Development Authority will kick off Christmas festivities with a Tree Lighting Ceremony at 6:30 p.m. on Nov. 26. The Nov. 26 event will be the day after Thanksgiving and will include local church choirs that will walk into downtown singing, coming from different directions, meeting at the four corners of Main Street and E. Second Street.

A community center for the Davison area has been discussed by some community service groups over the past year, but efforts to establish the facility are meeting some obstacles. At the Davison Area Parks and Recreation Commission meeting Wednesday, Nov. 15, Chairman Kevin Hammer told the panel the Davison Lions Club would seek a separate structure. He and the Lions were the first group to approach the commission with intentions of building the structure and two other community group have shown interest.
Efforts to create a “playscape” for Davison area youngsters are beginning, with the possibility of the structure becomeing part of the Davison Regional Park. Area resident Becky Holtz first presented the idea for the wood play structure at the October meeting of the Davison Area Parks and Recreation Commission. At the Nov. 15 meeting, Holtz and members of the parks commission committee formed last month said the most suitable site would be in the front of the park, just west of the tennis courts.

The judges of the 67th District Court in Genesee County last week elected Davison’s judge, Charles B. Mosier, a presiding judge for the calendar year 1971. Mosier, the newest judge in the district, was installed only two months ago, filling the vacancy left when Judge Luke Quinn was named to be a Genesee County judge of probate.
Two police cars, a fire truck, two bands, three queens, cheerleaders, color guard, the 40 et 8 locomotive… All will be there in the parade Monday evening which will kick off the Davison Christmas Shopping Season. The Chamber of Commerce is sponsor of the event. And after the parade… Santa Claus.

Davison Independents played against the Crapo All-Stars here in a game of football Thursday and the former won with a score of 38 to 0. Davison still has an unbroken line of victories. The boys will play at Holly, Sunday.
