FLINT TWP. — Miles Owens was elected by the HealthPlus board of directors to the position of board chair at a recent meeting of the board. He was first elected to the board of directors in 2005 and served as vice chairman from 2008 until his recent election to board chair.
Owens, a retired General Motors experimental model maker, was a UAW International Representative for 22 years and a former UAW President of Local 651. He is also past Master of the Masonic Lodge #223 in his hometown of Flushing.
“I am pleased to serve in a leadership role with the board of directors of an organization that is consistently recognized as delivering the highest level of health care management and oversight to our members,” said Owens. “I look forward to the challenge we have at HealthPlus of adapting, growing and succeeding in this rapidly changing health care environment.”
Owens also serves on the boards of the Greater Flint Health Coalition, Hope- Insight Recovery Center and Hurley Health Services. — G.G.
