Fat Tuesday. the last day of the Mardi Gras celebration, signals the last chance to gorge on traditional Polish paczkis pastry treats before the start of the official Lenten season on Ash Wednesday. It is always a busy time for Donna’s Donuts on Bristol Road where the staff expected to fill about 2,000 dozen orders, according to owner Alicia Gibbons, who added extra staff to handle the crowds expected to line up as early as 4 a.m. on Tuesday. Counting her grandparents and father, Gibbons’ family has provided the filled-pastry treats for about 36 years.
