Park board to pick favorite holiday lighting displays

SWARTZ CREEK — The Swartz Creek Parks and Recreation Advisory Board will continue its Christmastime tradition of recognizing residents whose holiday spirit really shines.

Park board members will cruise the city streets between Dec. 9 and 12, looking for their favorite home lighting displays. The judges will select one winner from each of the four precincts.

Residents with the top decorations will get bragging rights and signs in their yards (signs will be collected after Christmas for use again next year).

Photos of the homes, in all their luminous glory, will be published in the Swartz Creek View.

Residents do not need to enter the contest. Judges will drive every street in the city. Anyone who wants to be considered should have their lights and lawn decorations installed before Dec. 9.

In addition, the GFWC Swartz Creek Women’s Club will make the rounds of businesses within the city limits and present awards to a couple of the most festively-decorated.

Also, plans are pending for the traditional Swartz Creek Area Firefighters Christmas parade and Women’s Club tree lighting. Details will be published as they become available.
