FLINT TWP. – Fancy cakes, glittering table settings, catered food, wine, homemade chocolates, beautiful wall decorations and other samples of what an elegant party can be all were on display at the grand opening celebration of Affairs to Remember, 4297 Miller Road, across the street from Pier 1 Imports and next door to Signarama.
Owners Iva and Ian Harrison were joined by the Flint and Genesee Chamber of Commerce for the official ribbon-cutting at the specialty event rental company which is expanding into Genesee County from its flagship store in Commerce Township.
Iva Harrison said that opening the Flint showroom is a homecoming for her. She grew up in Flint, graduated from Swartz Creek High School and lives in Grand Blanc.
Several local event vendors were showcased at the grand opening celebration including custom cake and candy vendors.
Since 1999, Affairs to Remember has served the Detroit Metro, Greater Lansing, and Greater Ann Arbor areas. The Flint showroom helps to expand the service area to the Metro Flint and Tri-City areas.
From humble origins as a small linen rental company, housed in a garage, Affairs to Remember has grown in scope and size to a 10,000 square foot warehouse. It now offers a large selection of Chiavari chairs, farm chairs and tables, banquet tables in all sizes, pipe and drape, up lighting, chargers, and event coordination Staff includes 45 drivers, installation techs, laundry and press operators, seamstresses, and sales people serving over 175 different venues.
