FLINT TWP. – Some township board members found it hard to believe that the Michigan Department of Transportation) MDOT requires the township to get permission to mow the grass near the interstate. But that is the case.
So, the board has approved a MDOT Performance Resolution which requires Flint Township to renew each year a right-of-way resolution to allow workers access to mow along the edge of the freeway ramps.
The board had to move quickly to be able to continue mowing alongside the freeways during the season to keep things “looking neat and orderly.”. It is an annual application for permission, according to the two-page resolution.
Trustee Tom Klee commented that a yearly requirement to get permission to mow seemed “ridiculous.”
