FLINT — Terry Pierce, president of Security Credit Union (SCU), has announced he will retire effective November 1 after 33 years of service to the financial institution. He has served as president of SCU for the past 28 years.
Under the leadership of Pierce, SCU significantly expanded its assets and reach, growing from a single-sponsor organization with assets of $67 million, to a full service community-chartered credit union with more than $358 million in assets. Membership also increased from 31,000 to more than 58,000 members during his tenure.
“I’m fortunate to have been a part of such a wonderful institution for so many years. As I move into retirement I will always remember the outstanding staff,” said Pierce. “Security Credit Union’s success belongs to our dedicated employees who are committed to ensuring our members receive excellent service.”
With more than 39 years in the financial services industry, Pierce held several leadership positions with the Michigan Credit Union League during his career, including his term as chairman of the organization from 2006 to 2008. He also was named Professional of the Year by the Combined Council of America’s Credit Unions in 2008.
Pierce holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Arkansas State University. He served in the military as an officer in the United States Army Reserve. He and his wife Daelyn reside in Fenton.
Pierce’s successor will be announced in early November.
