Polar Plunge set for Saturday at Elms Park

SWARTZ CREEK — About a dozen people are expected to dress up in crazy costumes and zip across a chilly slip-and-slide Saturday at Elms Park.

The event is the COVID-19 version of the annual Polar Plunge, a fundraiser for Special Olympics of Michigan.

So far, 11 people have signed up to slide. Anyone interested in joining in the fun, which begins at noon, may register at www.classy.org/event/virtual-polar-plunge-and-frozen-5k/e313127.

Volunteers from the National Honor Society will be on hand to make sure participants and spectators maintain social distancing protocols.

A changing area will be set up in one of the pavilions for participants. — L.R.
