FLINT TWP. — Police have in custody a suspect from a bank robbery on Wednesday, April 18 at the Chemical Bank, 3501 S. Linden Road.
Police responded at about 1:55 p.m. to a call about a robbery at the bank. They learned that one white male, wearing a blue hoodie over his head, a dark colored jacket and dark covering over his face/neck, walked into the bank and delivered a note to employees. He demanded and received money from multiple tellers, according to a police report.
Afterwards, the suspect fled the scene in a dark blue Chevrolet Malibu. Witnesses provided the license plate on the vehicle. A description of the suspect and vehicle was broadcast over Genesee County Central Dispatch. Within minutes, a Mt. Morris Township police officer spotted the vehicle on northbound I-75 and conducted a traffic stop. The driver, a 40 year old Frankenmuth man was arrested. Money from the bank was recovered inside the vehicle.
The suspect is believed to be responsible for recent bank robberies in Saginaw Township. Flint Township detectives are working with detectives from Saginaw Township Police Department. The suspect was lodged in the Genesee County Jail, pending review of the case by the Genesee County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office. As of press time, his identity had not been released, pending formal charges and arraignment.
In a separate incident, on Sunday, April 22 at about 5 a.m. Flint Township Police officers responded to an armed robbery at Speedway, 1499 S Linden Rd. The suspect vehicle is believed to be a silver 2004 – 2008 Chevrolet Malibu. The first suspect is described as a male in his early twenties, 5’3” 190 pounds. The seconds suspect is described as a male in his late teens, 5’10” and skinny.
