Police arrest five burglary suspects



FLINT TWP. — The Flint Township Police Department has been investigating a series of burglaries in the Dayton Heights subdivision, located along Lavelle Road between Flushing Road and Pasadena Avenue. The burglaries took place in October through December.

On Sunday, January 1 at approximately 1:30 a.m. Flint Township police officers were summoned to a residence on Lavelle Road for a home invasion that had just occurred. The victim told police that he had awakened to find four suspects inside his residence attempting to steal items. The victim chased the suspects out of his home.

Through their investigation, officers were quickly able to take two juveniles into custody shortly after the incident. Through additional investigation, two more juveniles and one adult were arrested several hours later. The four juveniles were lodged at the Genesee Valley Regional Detention Center. The adult was lodged at the Flint City lock up. Charges have been authorized for Home Invasion – First Degree by the Genesee County Prosecutor’s Office on each of the five individuals arrested.

Additionally, one juvenile was charged with a second count of Home Invasion – First Degree in addition to counts of Entering without Breaking for two other burglaries he had committed.

The adult was scheduled to be arraigned in the 67th District Court on Wednesday, Jan. 4.
