FLINT TWP. — Last Friday, Township police arrested a Harrisville man who since has been charged by the Genesee County Prosecutor’s Office with Criminal Sexual Conduct – Fourth Degree, Indecent Exposure, and Indecent Exposure by a Sexually Delinquent Person, according to a police report.
Police were called on Friday, July 14 at approximately 1:30 p.m., after several complaints of suspicious behavior by a white male now identified as William Engle, 54.
Officers responded to the complaints in the retail district of South Linden Road and Miller Road, as well as a subdivision in the area of Corunna Rd. and South Dye Road. The suspect’s behavior was described as suspicious, and on several occasions, his comments and actions were directed toward minors.
Officers developed a description of the suspect and his vehicle. After canvassing the area, the suspect and his vehicle were located by a Flint Township Police officer in the parking lot of a retail outlet in the area of Miller Road and Curtis Drive. at approximately 4:25 pm. Shortly thereafter, the suspect was taken into custody without incident.
Engle, was driving a blue, 1998 Dodge Ram 1500 conversion van.
Flint Township investigators found that Engle has prior convictions of similar offenses. Investigators also believe Engle departed Harrisville earlier in the week and traveled to the Battle Creek area. He then traveled to Flint Township where the alleged incidents occurred.
Investigators believe Engle may have committed similar offenses in his travels throughout Michigan. Individuals aware of such incidents involving Engle are encouraged to notify their local police department.
Parents are reminded to keep a close watch of their children, and to call 911 immediately if they notice a subject acting suspiciously.
