Attempted armed robbery

FLINT TWP.— A 46-year-old man who resides at a hotel in the 3200 block of MIller Road called police at 6:15 a.m. on Aug. 27 to report an armed robbery attempt. The complainant said he answered a knock on his door and saw through the peephole that it was a woman known to him because he had given her money before. When he opened the door for her, two black men came around the corner with guns pointed at him and demanded money. The victim said he was able to push them back and lock the door. He said they fled on foot. One was described as a about six-feet tall with long dreadlocks. There is no description of his accomplice. The woman is described as a red-haired female about five-foot-eight in her mid-twenties. Golf equipment taken in store burglary

FLINT TWP.— Police were called to the 5100 block of Flushing Road at 10:40 a.m. on Aug. 22 to take a report about a break-in. Apparently the back door to the business had been pried open and about six sets of golf clubs were reported missing. There are no suspects. Police dog sniffs out a case

FLINT TWP.— Officer Neal Donovan and canine officer Gunner were called for assistance for a breaking and entering case in Flushing Township on Aug.25 at 3:40 p.m. Gunner was able to track the scent for about 75 yards until he reached the roadway where it is believed the suspect entered a vehicle and left the scene. Flint Township police had no further details about the case. Finders keepers

FLINT TWP.— A 31-year-old Swartz Creek woman called police to report people she suspected of stealing her missing money at Genesee Valley Center at about 8:45 p.m. on Aug. 24. The woman told police she was preparing to pay for a purchase and had a coupon she needed to fill out to be eligible for a discount. She placed $55 under her leg while completing the coupon then left her chair forgetting to pick up her money. When she realized she had left the money, it was gone. She pointed out a group of five shoppers whom she suspected of taking the money but they denied it. It was reported as a lost item. Police have no further leads. Hotel party guest turns into strong-arm robber

FLINT TWP. — Police were called to a hotel in the 2300 block of Austin Parkway at about 4:40 a.m. on Aug. 25 in response to a robbery complaint. A couple staying at the hotel said they had returned to the hotel at about 11 p.m. on Aug. 24 where one of them recognized a person they had gone to school with. The couple invited them back to their room to party. At some point, the female complainant, a 31-year-old Lennon woman, said she went to the bathroom, leaving her purse behind in the room. That’s when one of the three guests allegedly stole her purse. A struggle took place over someone holding the door to prevent her from getting out. When she was able to get out and ran out to the parking lot, she got her purse back. The suspects fled the scene by car. Nothing was taken from the purse but the complainants also reported a small amount of cash missing from the room. — Compiled by Rhonda Sanders
