POLICE BLOTTER



The Suffolk County Police Department’s First Precinct and other local fire and law enforcement agencies reported the following incidents this week.

ROBBERY

Deer Park: At 1:40 a.m. on Sept. 8, two men took another man’s wallet and fled on foot. The robbery took place on the corner of Bay Shore Road and Commack Road.

BURGLARY

West Babylon: An undisclosed amount of copper was taken from a house in foreclosure on 15th Street. Police were notified on Aug. 27 of the break in, and theft.

Wyandanch: A television and other valuables were taken from a Davidson Street home Aug. 29 shortly before noon.

•Sometime between 8 and 10:30 p.m. on Sept. 5, someone broke into a Levy Boulevard home and stole various articles.

•Gaining entry through a living room window, someone got into a Little East Neck Road home during the overnight hours between Sept. 6 and 7 and stole assorted valuables. Police said the thief was cut during the break in and left blood at the scene.

GRAND LARCENY

Babylon Village: A silver 2006 Honda Accord parked on Virginia Road was stolen sometime before 1 p.m., Sept. 6.

West Babylon: The yard at the former US Post Office on Sunrise Highway was broken into Sept. 2 during the early morning hours. Several pieces of construction equipment were taken.

Deer Park: Someone snatched a woman’s pocketbook at a Deer Park Avenue store at 4:30 p.m. on Sept. 4. A video camera recorded the theft.

East Farmingdale: The tires and rims were taken off a car on New Highway Sept. 3. The theft was discovered at 4 p.m.

Wyandanch: On Aug.t 3, sometime before 9 p.m., someone stole a 1997 Chevy Lumina parked on North 17th Street

CRIMINAL MISCHIEF

West Babylon: Someone vandalized a fence at a 13th Street home Sept. 4. The incident took place sometime prior to 9 p.m.

North Babylon: On Sept. 3, sometime prior to 11:20 p.m., someone smashed the windshield of a car parked on Cherubina Lane.

Wyandanch: The windows of as truck parked on Doe Street were found broken the afternoon of Aug. 31.

•At 6 a.m. on Sept. 3, a man was observed damaging a surveillance camera at a Straight Path business. The man fled before police arrived.

DWI: Thefollowing persons have been arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated or impaired: Iesha McKnight, 33 Hickory St., Wyandanch; Alfred Speehr, 75 Maple Dr., Lindenhurst; Cesar Gomez, 40 Cortland St., Copiague, Joseph Wellman, 17 Mark La., Deer Park; Abraham Motos Jr., 428 W 26th St., Manhattan; Philip Meraglia, 17 Boone St., Bethpage; Douglas Hommel, 1653 August Rd., North Babylon; Henry Sanabria, 491 Baldwin Path, Deer Park; Jeffrey Britt, 36 East June St., Lindenhurst;

Burglary: Darrick Harrison, 26 North Somerset Rd., Amityville; Hasheem McLaurin, 26 North Somerset Rd., Amityville;

Grand Larceny: Adeline Acevedo, 21 Lake Drive, Wyandanch;

Robbery: Derrick Clancy, 24 Scott Ave., Deer Park; Solomon Maithya, no address listed.

The charges against those arrested are allegations and the cases are still pending in the courts. Individuals charged and whose names appear in this column may submit documentation to us at a later date that the charges have been dismissed or that they have been found innocent and we will include that information in this space in a timely manner.
