Suspect facing multiple charges after pursuit
CLAYTON TWP. — A police pursuit ended with the arrest of a 39-year-old Clayton Township man Saturday, April 4.
Clayton Township police received information that police in the City of Flushing and Mt. Morris Township were seeking assistance in locating a suspect in two larceny complaints that had occurred earlier that day, according to Det. Sgt. Troy Belanger.
Officers spotted the suspect’s vehicle in the area of Seymour and Beecher roads, and attempted a traffic stop near Corunna and Van Vleet roads, Belanger said. However, the suspect fled, leading officers on a chase that ended in the Swartz Creek Meadows mobile home community.
Officers blocked the suspect in, Belanger said. The suspect locked himself inside the vehicle, refusing to surrender, which prompted police to break the car window.
Inside the vehicle, officers found property that had been reported stolen, as well as crack cocaine, authorities allege.
The suspect, who was on probation, was lodged at the Genesee County Jail pending charges of fleeing and eluding, resisting arrest and possession of cocaine, plus additional charges from Flushing and Mt. Morris Township. — L.R.
