Armed men rob bank
FLINT TWP. — On Nov. 14, at around 9:30 a.m., two black male suspects with weapons entered the Sage Link Credit Union at 3311 Van Slyke Rd and robbed the bank. An undisclosed amount of money was taken. No one was injured. Police report that no arrests have been made in this case at this time.
Customer wounded in shooting at Family Dollar store
FLINT TWP. —On Nov. 19, at about 2:40 p.m., police responded to reports of a shooting at the Family Dollar store, 1275 N. Ballenger Highway at Flushing Road. The suspect approached the front doors of the business and fired numerous rounds into the building, striking one customer who sustained serious but non-life threatening injuries. The suspect is described as a black male in his late teens to early 20s, 5-foot-4 and 140 pounds, wearing a gray hoodie with a white T-shirt underneath, blue jeans and white shoes. The weapon used was a semi-automatic handgun. In addition to the suspect, Flint Township detectives are also seeking a witness that was exiting the store at the time of the shooting. The witness is described as a
black male, early 20s, wearing a gray jacket with white stripes on the shoulders, gray pants and gray shoes. There was a toddler with him. Anyone with information about this incident is asked to call Detective Minto at 810-600-3250.
Robber caught after attempted store heist
FLINT TWP. — On Nov. 15 at about 11:30 p.m., a 22-year-old black male entered Zerka’s Party Store, 1395 W. Bristol Road brandishing a pistol. A store clerk fired shots toward the suspect, who was uninjured. The suspect fled the scene in a stolen pick-up. Within minutes, Michigan State Police troopers spotted the suspect’s vehicle and attempted to stop him. The fleeing vehicle entered northbound I-475 where it rammed the state police cruiser and ultimately crashed. The suspect and a white female passenger were taken into custody. An investigation revealed that the suspect had committed an armed robbery at the Genesee Valley Center mall on Nov. 14 as well as an armed robbery at a Burton gas station. The suspect was charged with two counts of armed robbery, assault with a dangerous weapon, fleeing and eluding and receiving and concealing stolen property. — Compiled by Rhonda Sanders
