Police called to late-night domestic disturbance



FLINT TWP. – A domestic disturbance and standoff on Thursday July 6 ended with the arrest of a 21-year-old Mt. Morris Township man, according to a police report.

At approximately 3 a.m. on Thursday, July 6, Flint Township Police were called to 2049 Mill Rd. for a domestic disturbance in progress. The first officers arriving on scene were informed by a 21-yearold female Flint Township resident that she had been assaulted by her boyfriend/ father of her children. It was also reported that the subject was inside of her apartment with their 3-year-old daughter. The female additionally told officers she believed the male was in possession of a firearm.

Officers attempted to make contact with the male in the apartment, but were unsuccessful. A perimeter was established and the Flint Township Incident Response Team was called to the scene. After several hours of limited contact with the suspect, his attorney arrived to offer assistance. A short time later, the male surrendered without incident. The 3-year old-child was found sleeping in a bedroom and was unharmed.

The suspect was lodged at the Flint City Jail pending presentation of the case to the Genesee County Prosecutor’s Office for review of charges.

The Flint Township Police Department was assisted at the scene by the Michigan State Police, Genesee County Sheriff’s Office, Mt. Morris Township Police Department, and the Flint Township Fire Department.
