Police charge burglary suspect



FLINT TWP. — The Genesee County Prosecutor’s Office has authorized 8 total charges against Joshua Tibbs, a 27-year-old City of Flint resident, which include home invasion, larceny in a building, breaking and entering, resisting and obstructing police, and larceny.

Flint Township Police investigators have linked Tibbs to several burglaries of homes, garages and sheds in the Riverview Subdivision. This subdivision is located along North Ballenger Highway, south of Flushing Road. The burglaries took place during the months of November and December in 2016. Through investigation and the help of the community, a suspect description was developed.

On Tuesday, Jan. 17, at approximately 11:30 am, a community member notified the Flint Township Police Department that the suspect was seen in the area. Officers from the Flint Township Police Department located the suspect, who promptly ran from officers. After a brief foot pursuit, Tibbs was taken into custody. He is currently being held at the Genesee County Jail.
