Police investigating early Monday morning homicide

FLINT TWP. — Police have identified Marcus L. Payne,, 41, of Flint Township, as the victim of a shooting in a parking lot on Ballenger Highway early Monday morning, according to a police press release.

At about 2 a.m., Flint Township Police were called to an area near the McDonald’s restaurant at 1232 N. Ballenger Hwy., in response to a complaint of a disorderly person in the parking lot.

Upon arrival, officers found a man later identified as Payne in the parking lot suffering from multiple guns shot wounds. He was transported to Hurley Medical Center by ambulance where he died.

Officers interviewed witnesses at the scene of the shooting who provided a description and license plate number of a vehicle containing two suspects. This information was immediately sent out to all police agencies in the area.

At 2:18 a.m., Michigan State Police troopers located the vehicle with the suspects inside near Ballenger Highway and Raskob Street in the City of Flint,

Police took into custody a 23 year old man and a 22 year old woman, both of Flint, who were lodged at the Genesee County Jail.
