On June 8 at 10:38 a.m., Flint Township Police were dispatched to Walmart for a suspicious situation. Customers reported that a shopper was creating a disturbance and making threatening statements while inside the store.

Although officers were unable to determine if the man’s statements were credible, they evacuated the store to ensure the safety of shoppers and Walmart employees. Investigators have not revealed the nature of the threats.

Walmart remained closed for approximately 2 ½ hours while police searched the store and investigated the alleged threat.

The 19-year-old man who allegedly issued the threats was lodged at the Genesee County Jail. The Genesee County Prosecutor’s Office is reviewing the case to determine if charges should be pressed against the man.
