Police say alcohol involved in fatal pedestrian crash




RICHFIELD TWP. — Police are investigating the Sept. 21 death of a 34-year-old Mount Morris man who was killed after being struck by a vehicle near the intersection of State and Richfield roads.

Det./Lt. Melissa Galloway of the Richfield Township Police Department released a statement on Tuesday which confirmed the identity of the victim as David Dunnivant, 34.

He was struck by a Chevrolet Malibu heading northbound on M-15, driven by a 19-year-old Davison man. Galloway said the man was arrested for operating while intoxicated causing death.

He was lodged in the Genesee County Jail; his identity had not been released pending arraignment on the charge.

The accident happened Monday at approximately 12:40 p.m., when the Richfield Township Police Department responded to a fatal accident in the 3000 block of N. State Rd, near Richfield Road.

Officers from the Davison/Richfield Accident Reconstruction Team, along with Davison Township officers, Davison City officers, Burton City officers, Genesee County Sheriff Department and Davison/Richfield Fire Department responded to assist with the investigation and traffic.

Preliminary investigation reveals the white Chevrolet Malibu was traveling northbound in the 3000 block of N. State Rd, when he lost control and struck Dunnivant who was walking on the eastbound shoulder of the roadway. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
