Police seeking hit and run driver



FLINT TWP. — On Thursday, Jan. 26 at 8:36 pm, Flint Township Police responded to W. Court St., east of the I-75 overpass for a pedestrian lying on the ground along the side of the roadway. The pedestrian was identified as Fred Michael Schwartz, a 35-year-old Flint Township resident.

Schwartz received emergency aid on scene and was transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead. A police investigation revealed Schwartz was struck by a vehicle. That vehicle fled the scene. Officers located debris from the suspect’s vehicle at the scene. This included clear headlight lens plastic and maroon/burgundy colored body parts.

Investigators are asking the driver of the vehicle to come forward to be interviewed regarding this incident. Investigators are also urging any witnesses to the crash to come forward. Additionally, auto body specialists and auto parts personnel should be mindful of a subject looking to repair damaged vehicle body parts described. If this person is observed, 911 should be contacted immediately.
