Poppy sale fundraiser for veterans set for May 21 at American Legion

CLAYTON TWP. — American Legion Post 294 of Swartz Creek is reaching out to the community for support for its annual poppy sales fundraiser.

In the past, volunteers were present throughout the community to distribute poppies at intersections and other high-traffic areas.

However, because of COVID- 19 restrictions, they have changed their plans and will have a “drive-by” distribution at the American Legion, in the parking lot, at 3440 Morrish Road.

The distribution will take place from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Friday, May 21.

All donations will be used for American Legion Post 294 programs that support veterans, and the military community and their families.

The red poppy is a nationally-recognized symbol of sacrifice worn by Americans since World War 1 to honor those who served and died for the country in all wars. It reminds Americans of the sacrifices made by veterans while protecting the nation’s freedoms.
