FLINT TWP. — The Flint Township Police Department will purchase two new portable radar signs at a cost of $6,530.
Police Lt. James Baldwin told the Flint Township Board of Trustees the single radar trailer the department currently has is about 20 years old and in need of replacement. It has a short battery life and cannot store traffic data, such as number and speed of cars.
Radar speed signs are designed to slow down speeders by alerting them to their speed. Baldwin said the new radar signs are easy to deploy, and they store the traffic data. The data is easily retrievable with a Bluetooth connection. Baldwin said the new radar sign has a longer battery life, a greater distance range and captures a wider range of speeds
The board approved the purchase of two radar signs from Radarsign for a total price of $6,530. — J.J.
