GRAND BLANC — Excitement is in the air for the all new Pink Night Palooza event set for Oct. 6 and if you just can’t wait that long to celebrate — no problem — a Pre-Pink Night Palooza Party will be held from 5 to 9 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 11 at Brick Street Bar and Grill.
“I’m looking forward to it,” said Karin Burnett, Pink Night Palooza co-chair, adding that the Aug. 11 event helps to build excitement for the larger event in October.
The new Pink Night Palooza event was announced earlier this spring when Financial Plus Credit Union’s Pink Night fundraiser joined forces with the Hurley Foundation Pink Palooza fundraiser. The new event is set for 5-11 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 6 at the Holiday Inn, Gateway Center and features the famous bra fashion show, live auction, dancing and much more.
Both events previously held a preview night and when they combined, organizers opted to keep one preview event. The two groups plan to toast to their new partnership at the Aug. 11 event in celebration of their union.
This year’s Pre-Pink Party will feature a silent auction with vacations, jewelry, designer hand bags and more. The Affair, a local band, has donated their time to perform at the event. There will also be appetizers, a photo booth, raffles and more. Tickets are $25 each and can be purchased online at hurleymc.com/pink.
The original Pink Night fundraiser was started in 2007 by employees of Financial Plus who had a passion for raising awareness and monetary funds for those affected by breast cancer. In 2015, Financial Plus raised a net of $69,000 for American Cancer Society’s (ACS) Making Strides Against Breast Cancer (gross of $77,000).
The main benefactor of this year’s Pink Nigh Palooza is the Hurley Foundation, as 90 percent of the funds raised will be donated to Hurley’s Breast Navigation program. Hurley’s program identifies gaps within their patient’s care and assists with financial hardships they may encounter including house payments, auto payments, purchasing a wig, groceries and much more. The Breast Navigation program helps to directly relieve financial burdens so patients can concentrate on treatment, wellness and getting back to work, if possible. The Hurley Foundation hosted its first annual Pink Palooza in 2015 and raised more than $25,000 for the Breast Navigation Program.
