“New York Glow” was the theme of the Carman-Ainsworth High School prom, held last weekend at the Kellogg Hotel and Conference Center in East Lansing in a ballroom bathed by changing colored lights. Popular attire for the girls ranged from two-piece midriff baring gowns to the typical hoop-skirted princess skirts in sherbet colors. For the guys, fancy shoes were a focal point including gold studded loafers and glittering silver sneakers. As usual, many students arrived in style in a Rolls Royce and stretch limo. And a gallery of fans from Flint gathered outside to view, applaud and photograph the passing parade of formal finery. About 400 students and their dates attended the event.
