FLINT TWP. — Two public hearings to create industrial development districts in Flint Township are set for April 1 at Flint Township Administration Building meeting room, 1490 S. Dye Road. The Flint Township Board of Trustees scheduled the public hearings for 4047 Market Place and West Maple Avenue during its next regular meeting at 7 p.m.
Economic Enhancement Director Tracey Tucker said the West Maple Avenue district encompasses vacant industrial land, a new facility that is being built and some property that is owned by the City of Swartz Creek but lies within the township. Tucker said Swartz Creek is agreeable to creating the district.
The board scheduled a third public hearing for the same meeting to consider an industrial facilities tax exempt (IFT) certificate for John P. O’Sullivan Distributing, 4047 Market Place, Flint Township, for a 20,000-square-foot expansion. The expansion and improvements include a cooler, a racking system for the cooler, a driveway, new roof and warehouse equipment consisting of forklifts and floor scrubbers. Tucker said the expansion will add about 30 jobs. — J.J.
