Putter Around the Creek canceled

To Our Swartz Creek Community

Last year GFWC Swartz Creek Women’s Club held its first annual “Putter Around the Creek” event in July, to raise funds for Canine Companions for Independence.

Our local businesses sponsored a “hole,” which was any type of fun, crazy, or challenging game that they chose (yard Yahtzee, darts, pool, corn hole toss, and even a putt-putt hole!). With each business sponsor, our course was set-up throughout our Swartz Creek business community. Our club members, business sponsors, and participants had a very fun day with this event. A trophy, along with certificates, were awarded at our Winners Circle at Abrams Park for our 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winners. Everyone was looking forward to our 2nd annual event.

Then 2020 comes with a vengeance that no one could have predicted. We all found ourselves spinning around trying to think of what is the “new normal,” or what events on our calendars can move forward; or, regrettably, should be canceled for safety concerns.

This is where we find ourselves with our Putter Around the Creek event. That is, canceling this year for safety concerns for our community, as well as taking into consideration the extreme financial strains our local businesses have endured these past months.

We look forward to announcing our 2nd annual Putter Around the Creek event next year (2021), and as always, appreciate the support we receive from our local businesses, as well as the participation from our local community. All fundraising events held by GFWC Swartz Creek Women’s Club will always announce what the proceeds are being raised for.

At this time our club members extend their warm wishes to all of you, a huge thanks to our sponsors, and pray that everyone stays safe and healthy. — Sandra L. Brill, President, GFWC Swartz Creek Women’s Club
