Ready to vote

Elections are one-day events for voters but the township clerk spends many weeks getting ready. These voting machines for use by blind and disabled voters were among those being tested in recent weeks to ensure proper function on election day. The Help America Vote Act (HAVA), signed into law in 2002 requires that at least one accessible voting machine be available in all polling places for federal elections. There are no local issues on the ballot for the upcoming Presidential Primary when voters will select party candidates for the final face-off in November to elect the next U.S. president. Polls will be open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday, March 8. For a list of candidates, precinct locations and other voting information visit vote.michigan.gov — Photo by Rhonda Sanders
