GRAND BLANC TWP. — On April 26, the Charter Township of Grand Blanc was notified by Emterra that due to employees affected by COVID-19 virus quarantine restrictions imposed by the CDC and MDHHS, the recycling pickup will be delayed until May 5.
“We realize that the disruption to our normal recycling pickup causes storage issues for residents impacted, and will announce as soon as possible if there are any further changes to the restart date,” township officials said in a press release.
This decision was made with the understanding that because yard waste paper bags disintegrate in inclement weather, it is better to delay recycling and focus on garbage and yard waste bags at this time. “Unfortunately, in this unprecedented pandemic some of our daily routines and expectations have been impacted,” the press release read. “Grand Blanc Township has worked diligently to minimize service disruptions, but this was a situation that is beyond our and Emterra’s control.
“We appreciate your patience and understanding during this disruption in service, and hope that all Emterra employees are able to safely resume their normal service routes moving forward.”
Other communities in Genesee County who use Emterra, like Davison and Richfield townships, also have been notified of delays. — L.R.
