On Oct. 12, 2016, the museum picked up a 1963 Chevrolet Corvette, bringing the total number of vehicles in the automotive collection to 103. 1963 marked the first major redesign of “America’s Sports Car” and the new Corvette (assembled in St. Louis) was smaller, lower, lighter, and more aggressive, featuring a Flint-built 340 horsepower, 327 cid V-8 and a 4-speed transmission. 1963 also marked the first year a Corvette coupe was available, and the only year for the “split rear window” that has become the Stingray’s hallmark.
