FLINT TWP. —Northbound interstate traffic to and through Flint Township will need to take a roundabout approach for four days next week.
Originally scheduled May 4-8, a construction detour on northbound I-75 has been rescheduled, due to weather, to begin Sunday May 11 and end Thursday, May 15, according to an MDOT press release.
Construction work will close the northbound leg of I-75 between I-475 and U.S. 23, beginning at 6 a.m. Sunday until 6 a.m. Thursday. Northbound through traffic will be routed along I-475 to reconnect with I-75 in Mt. Morris Township.
Motorists headed to Flint Township or other destinations along I-75 in Genesee County between Bristol Road and I-69 will have to take the northbound I-475 detour to westbound I-69 or travel on surface streets.
The detour is necessary to accommodate work adjusting elevation under I-475. It is part of an overall $13.3 million project that began April 21 and is scheduled for completion in September.
