Gifted learner’s program, ACT test prep slated for January

FLINT — Recco S. Richardson Consulting (RSRC) announces its upcoming events for January. All events are held at the Recco S. Richardson Consulting, Inc., located at 6309 N. Saginaw St.

Now through Jan. 30, Richardson Consulting offers Accelerated Courses in its Gifted Learner’s Program, “GLP 105” — Exceptional Essay Writing, for first-year students. Cost is $20 per week, and the sessions run 5-6:30 p.m. Jan. 16, 23 and 30. Activities include advanced projects, group activities, college-level instruction and more. The sessions are geared for students who are exceptional, academic learners.

For the entire month of January, the center offers ACT Test Preparation through its Gifted Learner’s Program. The event consists of practice ACT Test questions/review (online). The event is free, and requires a minimum of five to 10 hours a week. Activities include practice questions, review and confidence builder. Since the event is offered online, students can participate at home, at school or a library. The practice ACT Test questions/review is geared for gifted learners.

Ever Friday night in January from 6-7:30 p.m., Richardson Consulting offers weekly Treatment Groups through its RSRC Programming. The treatment groups are facilitated by RSRC staff members, and consist of activities that address mental health issues, peer intervention, skits/role play, coping skills and more. The cost varies, but there is no cost for foster/adopted children. The treatment groups are targeted for children ages 4-17.

RSRC also offers a weekly “Fun Night” every Friday night in January from 7:30-9 p.m. Activities include movies, board games, recreation, snacks, various contests, competitions and more. The weekly event is facilitated/chaperoned by RSRC staff and donations of snacks and/or games is appreciated. The “Fun Night” is for children ages 4-17.

On Jan. 21, RSRC will present its “Grades Up” Program Recognition and Awards at 7:45 p.m. The event, which recognizes program participants’ improved grades, acknowledges students, along with giving certificates of accomplishment, financial stipends and more.

For a final event in January, RSRC presents its Speaker’s Bureau event on the Flint Housing Commission from 10-11:30 a.m. Jan. 27 at The Flint Housing Commission, 3820 Richfield Rd. The event, which is only open to Housing Commission tenants, will provide handouts, role play, a resource table, training certificates and more. There is no cost to attend; supplemental material will be available for purchase. The event will be presented by Recco S. Richardson, Ph.D., MA, LPC. Richardson is a Diplomate with the American Psychotherapy Association.
