ROBERT WESLEY HILGENDORF, 83, of Davison, MI, passed away Saturday, November 14, 2020 after a short battle with cancer. Cremation has taken place. A Memorial Liturgy will be celebrated 12 Noon Wednesday November 18, 2020 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, 404 North Dayton Street, Davison, MI 48423; Rev. Fr. Andrew A. Czajkowski celebrant. Inurnment in Great Lakes National Cemetery in the Spring of 2021. The family will receive visitors 11 AM until the time of the service at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Outreach East or the Humane Society of Genesee County, in Bob’s memory.
Bob was born in Flint, MI on December 5, 1936, son of the late Lauren “Whitey” and Molly (Schafer) Hilgendorf. He graduated from Davison High School in 1954. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army from 1960- 1962. Bob attended Flint Community College and Valparaiso University earning a degree in Accounting. Bob was the owner and operator of Whitey’s restaurant in Davison, MI for more than 40 years. He was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church. Bob married Hope on September 10, 1995 in Lapeer, MI. He enjoyed golfing, fishing and traveling. He was extremely proud of his family and loved all 5 of his grandchildren dearly.
Bob is survived by his wife of 25 years, Hope Hilgendorf; 3 children, Mikel (Suzette) Hilgendorf, Jack (Tamera) Jones and Katie (Brian) Gist; 5 grandchildren, Conner Hilgendorf, Lauren (Kody) Powell, Cole Jones and Ella Jones and Lucy Gist; 2 brothers, Charlie (Diane) Hilgendorf and Edward Hilgendorf; many other loving family members and dear friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Whitey and Molly Hilgendorf and his sister Carol. The family would like to thank Kindred Hospice and Vera Heath for their wonderful care.
