GOLF

The Cavaliers played in the Genesee County Invitational on Monday at Atlas Valley Country Club. Haywood Petty led the team with a 92, Garrett Wilson shot 111 and Alex Frank carded 136.

Last Friday, the Cavs dropped a nonleague dual meet to Montrose, 177- 254, at Briar Ridge.

Carman-Ainsworth will play Saginaw Valley Lutheran next Monday at Pleasant View Golf Course. – D.N.

LACROSSE

Taking on former Big Nine foe Swartz Creek on Tuesday, the Lady Cavs took a 12-9 loss at home after leading, 8-7, at the half. Carman- Ainsworth was led by senior Alexus Colby with six goals. Hannah Flewig added two goals, Izzie Hynan tallied another goal and Sarah Owens stood tall in net.

The Lady Cavaliers suffered a tough loss in the Saginaw Valley League on Thursday with a home defeat against Flushing. 17-6. Flushing took a 12-5 lead into the half before outpacing the Cavs, 5-1, in the second half. — B.P.

SOCCER

An eleven-goal shutout of Flint Northwestern on Monday gave the Cavaliers their first win of the season in a Saginaw Valley League South contest.

Arianna Vantine made one save in the win, while Alexis House, Morgan Overton, Holley Taylor and Alexis Thurber each had two goals. Natalia Avery, scored once and had one assist, Jordan Marsh scored once and Vantine scored once. Emma Bostwick and Cheyenne Lopez each had two assists and Avery, Jessica Baker and Taylor each had one.

Last Friday, the Lady Cavs lost to Owosso, 2-1.

Arianna Vantine made seven saves in net, while Sandra Rawls scored the Cavs’ lone goal. The score was tied 1-1 at the break, but Owosso was able to find the back of the net for the win.

The Lady Cavs hosted Flint Powers yesterday. – L.P.
