CROSS COUNTRY

The Cavalier boys finished ninth with 247 points at the SVL Jamboree Tuesday. Tyler Pangerl was 14th in 17:13.78. Juwan Willis was 59th in 20:04.06.

Keith Belk took 66th in 21:31.35, Justin Snyder was 78th in 23:14.26, Andre Thorton was 87th in 26:15.08, Tahj Willis was 89th in 28:23.00 and Andrew Stephens was 90th in 30:16.43.

The Cavalier girls had only four runners and did not post a team score. Randi Richardson was 73rd in 26:04.81, Bailey Curtis was 77th in 29:54.46, Laura Depew was 79th in 34:05.79 and Jazmine Randle was 80th in 34:06.61.

The Cavaliers finished seventh with 174 points at the Corunna Invite Saturday. Brighton won the meet with 30 points. Corunna was second with 46 and Brandon was third with 75.

Pangerl finished seventh in 17:09.89, Juwan Willis was 54th in 20:19.90, Thorton was 77th in 22:18.15 and Belk was 78th in 22:18.40. Snyder finished 87th in 23:19.87, Tahj Willis was 98th in 27:26.08 and Stephens was 102nd in 28:17.39. — K.W.

VOLLEYBALL

Carman-Ainsworth hit the road to Battle Creek for the annual Cereal City Tournament where it fell in pool play to Marshall, which went on to the championship of the gold bracket, 16-25, 12-25.

Hailey Fyfe had 42 digs and Deja Lester added 10 aces, 35 kills and 31 digs. Jessica Smith recorded 23 kills and 52 digs while Sarah Thurston had 11 aces and 86 assists.

The Lady Cavs had a tough test last Thursday with a trip to Bay City Western for a Saginaw Valley League crossover dual as Carman-Ainsworth fell to the Warriors in four games, 17-25, 16-25, 25-12, 18-25.

Sydney Cunningham put up seven kills and five blocks while Ally Dittenber racked up 17 digs. Smith contributed to the effort with nine kills and 15 digs and Thurston was all over the place with three aces, eight digs and 22 assists.

The Cavs are at Holly today and the Flushing Invitational on Saturday. — B.P.
