The Cavaliers pulled ahead of Saginaw Heritage after Entrice Mitchell hit a two-run homer in the third inning. Carman-Ainsworth led, 1-0, after the second inning and tacked on five runs in the third and three in the fifth.
Mitchell also drove in two runs, while Vincent Lang had one hit, two RBI and connected on a double. Duane Haskins had one hit and drove in two runs. Brennan Gleason got the win in four innings of work, fanning seven and walking one.
Carman-Ainsworth has been inside for much of the season, losing six double headers off the schedule because of unrelenting rain and cold. The Cavs were slated to play Bendle at Bendle yesterday. — L.P.
The Cavaliers’ girls lacrosse team traveled to Oxford last Friday and lost, 14-1. Carman-Ainsworth hosts Saginaw Heritage today and welcomes Midland Dow on Tuesday. — E.H.
The Cavaliers fell to Ortonville- Brandon, 2-1, on Monday, after getting outshot, 22-6. Shelby Marsh scored Carman-Ainsworth’s lone goal in the second half on a breakaway.

The Cavaliers opened their season with a pair of non-league losses to Saginaw Heritage, 13-3, 17-1, Monday at home. Madison Cox struck out five in the opener and made a great defensive play to help keep Carman-Ainsworth within 6-3 up to the fifth inning. Elizabeth Roe had a line drive to right field and Dannie Crowder lashed a double to left. In the nightcap, Jennie Klapko, Jessica Smith, Jessica McClung, Meghan Borgerding, Kordin Brandon, Brianna Haskins and Crowder each went 1- for-3. Lacy Totfree had two insidethe park home runs for Heritage.

The Lady Cavaliers hit the court for the first time this season on Monday at Lapeer West, falling to the Panthers in the non-league dual, 6-2. J’Lynn Corder was victorious over Emily Prykucki at No. 1 Singles, 6-0, 6-0, before Alexis Burnett fell to Mackenzie Welker at No. 2 Singles, 6-4, 6-3. Cionna Orr dropped her No. 3 Singles match to Megan Morris, 6-0, 6-1, and Brieanna Hudson lost at No. 4 Singles to Blake Clements, 6-0, 6-1.
Ashleigh King/Hunter McFadden were defeated at No. 1 Doubles by Alycia Kigar/Sara Morris, 6-4, 6-4, while Sara Hyde/Whitney Reynolds lost to Amanda Clor/Lori Noelle, 6-2, 6-3, at No. 2 Doubles. In the No. 3 Doubles slot, Christina Berry/Kayla Davis were beaten by Allison Campbell/Tara Lemieux, 6-3, 6-1, and Taylor McFadden/Ashley Whidbee capped off the day with a win at No. 4 Doubles over Johanna Boerger/Rachel Little, 6-2, 6-2.
