Meghan Borgerding shot 101 to lead Carman-Ainsworth golfers at the Lapeer Summer Tuneup last Friday at Lapeer Country Club. Danielle Sims added 132 and Selena Johnson carded 139, but the Lady Cavaliers did not have a fourth golfer and therefore could not post a team score.

The same three players took part in the Big Nine Conference preseason meet Tuesday at Flushing Valley CC. Borgerding carded 102, Sims 126, and Johnson 160. — D.N.

Carman-Ainsworth beat Swartz Creek, 4-1, on Monday. Mario Rauh of Creek scored off an assist by Ben Kovalcik to make it 1-0 at halftime. But the Cavaliers bounced back as Marquis Weststrock scored two goals and Kaleb Harrison and Yaakoub Aziz each added on apiece. Assisting on the Cavalier goals was Kyle Gomez with two assists and Todd Borkowski.

“We ran out of gas,” Swartz Creek coach Ken Koffkey said. “Carman- Ainsworth used their speed to beat us.” Creek will next face Davison in their home opener on Thursday. — B.B.
