FLINT — The American Public Works Association (APWA) Michigan Chapter has chosen projects completed in the City of Davison and the Village of Vernon to receive Project of the Year awards in the transportation category.
ROWE was the design engineer for resurfacing the City of Davison’s East Flint Street. The project included using a road diet concept to improve traffic flow by restriping its four lanes to two with a center turn lane and non-motorized lanes. The entrance to a shopping plaza was reconfigured and a flashing signal for pedestrian crossing was added. Ace Asphalt and Paving Company of Flint was the project’s contractor.
ROWE also was the design engineer for reconstructing the Village of Vernon’s Main Street. The project included sanitary sewer replacement, storm sewer improvements, sidewalk ramp upgrades, curb and gutter replacement, and roadside aesthetic improvements. Rohde Brothers Excavating of Saginaw was the project’s contractor.
