— Get ready for loads of laughter and fun when Flint Community Players (FCP) kicks off its 82nd season with Rumors
Sept. 9-11 and 17-19 at Bower Theater.
Written by Neil Simon, Rumors involves miscommunication, mayhem and complete chaos surrounding a New York dinner party. “Can the deputy Mayor of New York (who lies nurturing a flesh wound, having just shot himself), his wife (who’s nowhere to be found) and guests arriving (in mere moments) to the dinner party event of the season, count on his attorney (and faithful pal) to defeat confusion, miss-communication, mayhem and complete chaos among the flock of equally farcical guests?” Come and find out during the production’s run at Bower Theater.
Next on the line-up is The 25th Annual Putnam County
running Nov. 11- 14 and 19-21. Based on the book by Rachel Sheinkin, with music and lyrics by William Finn, the musical comedy revolves around “six, neurotic, compulsive (not to mention a bit off) overachieving school children (actually played by six, neurotic, compulsive, eccentric adult actors) … (trying) to find true happiness by acting, singing and dancing their way through a spelling bee.”
FCP will hold auditions for Putnam County Spelling Bee
7- 10 p.m. Sept. 13-14 at the FCP Workshop and Rehearsal Hall, 2462 Ballenger Hwy. Steven J. Mokofsky, executive artistic director, said he is looking for seven men and seven women, ages 18-40 for the production.
After Putnam County Spelling Bee, FCP presents A Couple of White Chicks Sitting Around Talking Jan. 13-16, 2011. Written by By John Ford Noonen, audiences are treated to the morning banter of a “perfect suburban housewife” and “one pesky neighbor” and the situations that come up. Those interested in auditioning for the production can attend auditions 7 p.m. Nov. 15-16 at the FCP facility.
Next on the line-up is Dearly
running March 10-12 and 18-20. Written by David Botrell and Jessie Jones, Dearly
prides itself on possibly having “more southern drawl and dysfunction than Steel Magnolia’s, more twisted redneck humor than Greater Tuna and more family foppish foray than Escanaba in Da’ Moonlight.” Auditions for Dearly Departed
are 7 p.m. Jan. 17-18 at the FCP facility.
The final production in the FCP Season 82 schedule is Jesus Christ Superstar,
running May 5-7 and 12-15. Based on the book by Tim Rice, with music by Andrew Lloyd Webber, the musical will keep audiences entertained with song after song. Auditions for Jesus Christ Superstar
are 2-5 p.m. Feb. 6 and 7-10 p.m. Feb. 7 in the FCP hall.
All performances, with the exception of A Couple of White
