FLINT — The Salvation Army will be taking applications for Christmas assistance from Oct. 31-Nov. 4, from 9 a.m.- 2:30 p.m. for Genesee County residents. The Christmas Assistance program is intended to help Genesee County residents who would otherwise be unable to celebrate Christmas.
Those in need of assistance with food and toys will have the option of two locations to apply in person. The Salvation Army, 211 W. Kearsley Street in downtown Flint and The Salvation Army Beecher Corps located at 1475 W. Coldwater Road. No appointment needed .
To sign up, residents mustbring the following documents:
• Current I.D. for all adults in the household — Social Security Card or a print out from the social security office dated within 30 days andMichigan Driver’s License or Michigan State I.D.
• Proof of dependents in the home — Social Security Cards (or a print out from the social security office dated within 30 days
• Current Bills — Bills must contain the name and address of the individual applying for assistance. Current bills include Rent, Mortgage, Water, Gas, Electric, Telephone, Cable, etc.
• Proof of Income — Pay stubs, Child Support Statement, Social Security, SSI, SSDI, DHS Statement, Unemployment/Workman’s Comp, etc.
