FLINT — The Salvation Army of Genesee County is hiring bell ringers for the Red Kettle Campaign that begins Friday, Nov. 10.
Applications will be taken from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., at the Beecher Corps, 1475 W. Coldwater Road, and the Citadel Corps, 211 W. Kearsley St.
Capt. Caleb Senn, regional coordinator of The Salvation Army Genesee/Shiawassee County Regional Command, said he expects each location to hire 40 more workers.
“It’s not an easy job because of the outdoor environment,” he said. “The jobs will pay $8.90 an hour, but there may be some bonuses for job performance. You could earn up to $270 take home per week.”
Candidates must be at least 18 years old, and have a valid driver’s license or state ID, Social Security card and schedule of availability.
“We operate around 70 kettles in the county and they’re open, in some cases … 11 hours a day, six days a week, so we’ve got thousands of hours of time,” Senn said. — L.R.
