GENESEE COUNTY — For the third time in just as many years, Genesee County Salvation Army volunteers prepare to hit the streets to ring bells at the familiar red kettles for Christmas in July.
“As donations continue to dwindle and the need continues to grow, it has become necessary to pursue creative ways to secure funds to support our activities for children and our community outreach programs,” states Major
Jon Augenstein, Genesee County Coordinator for The Salvation Army.
The Salvation Army red kettle volunteers will be ringing bells on July 20-21. With the hot weather, this year’s bellringers are encouraged to be creative. So don’t be surprised if you see shorts, Hawaiian shirts, and grass skirts as the attire of choice.
Kettles will be located around
Genesee County at various
Kmart stores including
Grand Blanc, Burton,
Clio, and Fenton.
Red kettles will also be located at the
Flint Farmers’
Market on
Saturday, July 21.
“The programs and services we provide to help keep our children safe from harm, particularly during the summer months, are possible only because of the generosity of this community,” said Augenstein.
