Support Robotics Team gift-wrapping
FLINT TWP. — Big MO, the Carman- Ainsworth High School robotics team, will be at Genesee Valley Center shopping mall, in front of Macy’s, wrapping gifts for donations from 11 am to 9 pm on Saturday, December 16. Shoppers are encouraged to save some time by stopping out and having all their gifts wrapped. All donations will go towards purchasing supplies for their 2018 robotics competition season. — R.S.
Old Newsboys registration still open
FLINT TWP. — The registration period to receive holiday packages from Old Newsboys is open until December 22. Applicants must bring a driver’s license or state ID, Social Security Card, birth certificates or Judgments of Legal Custody for each child enrolled, income documentation (2016 tax records, current Michigan Medicaid Card or proof of Acceptance to Federal School Lunch Program). WFBA hosting 18th holiday fundraiser
FLINT TWP. — Cash, gift cards and gift baskets will be among about 70 prizes to be won at the West Flint Business Association’s 18th Annual Holiday Scholarship Fundraiser, from 11:30 a.m. Until 1:15 p.m. on Thursday, December 14 at the Golden Corral restaurant, 4200 Miller Road; No reservations are needed and the public is invited. Lunch costs $10.25 per person and includes beverage and tip. Prize tickets will be sold two for $5. Prize drawings will start at 12:30 p.m. and there is no limit on how many times you can win. Proceeds will benefit three educational scholarships awarded annually by the WFBA. — R.S.
GDL December calendar
FLINT TWP. — The Genesee District Library Board of Trustees will meet at 5:30 p.m. on Monday, December 18, in the conference room of the Headquarters branch, 4195 Pasadena Ave. The meetings are open to the public. Also coming up is the monthly meeting of the Nonfiction Book Club at 7 p.m. on December 19 and the Movie Club at 5:30 p.m. on December 28 at the Genesee Valley Center Library (Sears Wing). The groups discuss popular books and movies. Also coming up at the Headquarters Library is an Open Computer Lab, from 2-3:30 on December 19 and 5:30-7 p.m. on December 14 and 21. Headquarters librarian Liz Kish will offer one-onone help with computers and answer specific questions in the computer lab during these set times. All ages welcome. — R.S.
