Church offering free movies
FLINT TWP. — Hope United Methodist Church, 4467 Beecher Road (at Mill Road) holds an annual Film Fest in January and February. Films are shown on a large screen in the church parlor on Sunday nights at 5:00 p.m. with discussion afterward. This year’s theme is “To Be Inspired”. The list of movies being shown is:
Jan. 14 – “Lion”
Jan. 21 – “The Hundred-Foot Journey
Jan. 28 – “Saving Mr. Banks”
Feb.4 – “Hidden Figures”
Feb. 11 – “The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel”
Feb. 18 – “Wonder”

CAMS theater presenting play next week
FLINT TWP. – The Carman-Ainsworth Middle School Theater Department will present “The Quest For Quasi: How Little Red Got Her Hunch Back” on Jan. 17-19. Tickets are $5 for adults, $3 for students and free to senior citizens and children under age 4. This show Is for all ages. It is a humorous take on what happens to Little Red Riding Hood after she wins a date with Quasimodo, the famous Hunchback of Notre Dame, on “The Dating Game.” — R.S.
Local announces holiday drive results
FLINT TWP. — AFSCME: Local 1918-01 collected and distributed 39 scarves, 79 hats and 97 sets of gloves to help keep warm children in the Carman-Ainsworth, Swartz Creek and Flushing school districts. Local members and helpers stay busy all year long knitting or purchasing the materials that are first displayed on a Christmas tree at the township hall. This year the group also collected donations for Toys for Toys and food to donate to the Senior Citizens Center food pantry. — R.S.
FRANKENMUTH — An annual local favorite, the 27th annual Zehnder’s Snowfest will take place Jan. 24–Jan. 29 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Snowfest activities take place at 730 S. Main St. and feature ice and snow carving competitions, beer tent with live entertainment, fireworks, petting zoo and other children’s activities.
