Vintage auto show coming
FLINT — The 16th Annual Golden Memories Vintage Auto Show will be held Sept. 19 from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. at Sloan Museum. This event is exclusively for original or authentically restored vehicles produced in 1960 or earlier.
The Golden Memories Vintage Auto Show is sponsored by Friends of Sloan-Longway, making it free to exhibitors and attendees. This event is non-competitive, so there will be no judging, just a relaxing day with friends and fellow car enthusiasts, who love well preserved and restored automobiles. Lottery drawing for the dash plaque vehicle of the 2011 show. Special recognition to vehicles celebrating a 50, 75 and 100 year anniversaries. Registration no required. Grossology at Sloan Museum
FLINT — Did you know … If you’re right handed, you sweat more on your left arm. And if your left handed, your sweat more on your right arm. Grossology: The (Impolite) Science of the Human Body opens at Sloan Museum, 221 East Kearsley St., on Sept. 18. There you can climb a human skin wall with warts, hairs, wounds and other objects that act as hand and foot holds. Food drive at Flint VFW Post 822
FLINT — Post 822 of the Veterans of Foreign Wars will sponsor a food drive on Sept. 11 from 10 a.m.–5 p.m.
The drive will be set up like a drive through. For a donation of food, donors will receive a hot dog and chips.
This is the first year for this food drive although the Post has maintained a food bank for five years and has always paid for it out of pocket.
This food is going to homeless vets, family members HHC 125 National Guard unit out of Flint when they deploy in December and any name that is submitted that needs assistance — they do not have to be a veteran.
Cash donations are also accepted. The post is having a Steak Fry Sept. 18. Tickets are $10 and the dinner includes Ribeye steak, potato, corn on the cob and salad. — G.G.

Sweet display at the Sloan Museum
FLINT — “The Sweet Side” is a display at the Sloan Museum, 1221 E. Kearsley St., about the history of candy shops, bakeries and “sweet” shops in Flint. Even adults feel like kids in a candy shop, so the exhibit is for all ages.

GENESEE COUNTY — Summertime is when blood donors are needed most, so that’s why Michigan Blood is giving donors one more reason to give blood.
