Concerts at Machine Shop

FLINT — The Machine Shop, 3539 S. Dort Hwy., Flint, will feature Ed Kowalczyk of Live with Thriving Ivory, Miggs and Frequency 54 on Sept. 24. Tickets are $25 in advance. Art on Tap beer tasting event

FLINT — Flint Institute of Arts presents the 3rd Annual “Art on Tap” Beer Tasting event on Sept. 25 from 4-9 p.m. The celebration will take place on the FIA East Lawn under a huge tent and will feature more than 60 craft and import brews with a sensational line up. See for a full list of participating beers. Beer lovers will not want to miss this fun-filled evening of sampling beers, talking with beer experts and supporting the FIA.

Each guest will receive five tasting tickets and a commemorative tasting glass for a $20 admission. FIA members will receive a discount at $15 for admission. Additional tasting tickets will be available for $1 each.

Acrylic paint workshop

GRAND BLANC — Mary Beth Schiros will present “Expand Your Horizon With Acrylic Painting” at Boundless Arts, 12235 S. Saginaw St., Grand Blanc, on Oct. 2 from 10:30 a.m.-4 p.m. This workshop will present an overview of acrylic paints and mediums, such as gesso, grounds, pouring and glazing mediums. Local artist Mary Beth Schiros will discuss the advantages of using acrylics vs. other paints, and special techniques applicable only to the acrylic medium. The workshop will begin with demonstrations followed by hands-on experimentation by the participants.
